The Museum is pleased and honored to have recently entered into a partnership with the Deputy Sheriffs’ Association of San Diego County (DSA) to share some of the most intriguing nuggets of history of the San Diego Sheriff’s Office. As part of the Museum’s “Stories of the Badge” section on its website, readers can now find sample articles from the archives of DSA’s popular magazine, Silver Star. First published over forty years ago, Silver Star is the official quarterly publication of the DSA, featuring articles written by DSA members and affiliates on topics that affect their daily lives, their careers with the Sheriff’s Office, and the communities they serve.

Fascinating contemporaneous stories that now appear on the Museum website include the 1983 establishment of the Imperial Beach station, the story of ASTREA pilot Milton Cherne, the 1999 gunfight at Morgan Run Golf Course, and more. The collection of archived articles from Silver Star and other great sources of SDSO history will be regularly added to the Museum websitehttps://sandiegosheriffsmuseum.org/stories/.
